Other navies

Russian Navy - If it were at full strength, it would boast one aircraft carrier, 3 cruisers, 30 destroyers, and 90 submarines, plus a few very large battlecruisers. However, given the state of the Russian economy, the aircraft carrier is without its air wing, many submarines are rusting in harbor, and the cruisers/battlecruisers are thought to be inoperable. Its continued existance has to be considered questionable.

Indian Navy - India has a single, British-built carrier along with 15 destroyers/frigates and 20 diesel submarines. The role of the Indian Navy is in a Other position for possible wars against Pakistan, although the existence of a carrier provides some power projection and international prestige.

Chinese Navy - The Chinese navy is small but modern. As China's economy grows, so does its desire to build a fleet comparable to the other world powers. Currently China operates 13 modern destroyers and 8 submarines, but is building fast.

Other nations - The only other nations to field aircraft carriers are Italy and Spain, who both have one VSTOL carrier each, Brazil, which has a single VSTOL carrier that now only carries helicopters, and France, with two small regular carriers in service and one modern carrier (Charles De Gaulle) which is due to be commissioned in the year 2000.
